The Beginning:
My lifelong dream of sharing health and fitness came true with the opening of THRIVE in 2009. My passion for teaching and for health & fitness began as a young dancer and as a daughter of two school teachers who inspired their students every day. When I was fifteen years old, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Over the next two years, I was hospitalized, heavily medicated and operated on three times to save my life. After my recovery, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and began visiting children in hospitals and giving them hope and inspiration. It was then that I made helping others my life-long goal.

Education:
I graduated from my dream school, Cornell University, where I studied Human Development and met my husband, Nick.
After graduating, I followed Nick to Atlanta, GA where I worked as a Social Skills Teacher and psychotherapist while earning my Master’s degree in Counseling from Georgia State University.

Pilates Training:
I completed comprehensive Pilates Instructor Training with Power Pilates and constantly diversify my training with continuing education courses from a wide range of talented Pilates trainers. I currently teach private sessions and mat classes at Thrive.
My goal is to motivate and challenge my clients with an intense workout, while maintaining a gentle and compassionate approach. I’m all about being present with my client and facilitating the workout he/she needs in the moment.

Nutritional Experience/Training:
My nutritional training began with my personal experiences in healing through nutrition. Although my health improved after my surgeries, I began having symptoms of Crohn’s disease while I was a graduate student. My doctors put me on more medication and performed more surgeries, to no avail. Finally I met nutrition and healing coach, Catherine Carrigan of Total Fitness in Atlanta, GA., who taught me to heal my body through changes in diet and lifestyle. I studied with Catherine in her Nutritional Mastery Course and later graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition becoming a Certified Health Coach.

Yoga Training:
I trained in Baptiste style Power Yoga, with my business partner and friend, Steve Gold of Philly Power Yoga. I have been practicing yoga since my days at Cornell and now enjoy taking and teaching yoga at Thrive and Philly Power Yoga. I teach private yoga sessions upon request.

Marielle Rubin

Originally from Boston, Mari is a recent Philly transplant. Fully trained on the mat through Balanced Body, she is currently enrolled in full apparatus training through the Pilates program at Drexel University. Mari fell in love with Pilates a number of years ago, as the practice taught her to approach her physical and mental health in an intuitive way, and she loved how emotionally empowered and physically strong she felt after each class. She loves how precise and purposeful the practice is, and she wants her students to gain strength, stability and really challenge themselves throughout her classes. While constantly looking to help her clients challenge both their bodies and minds, Mari believes that hard work, discipline and confidence will help them accomplish their goals.

Megan Quinn

Megan Quinn began her Pilates practice in 2008 as a way to work through pain and physical limitations after a traumatic neck injury. She quickly realized that Pilates was improving her daily comfort level, her dance technique, and her confidence. As her practice grew she became excited to share these feelings of strength, awareness and freedom with others. After graduating from Temple University with a BFA in Dance, she completed her Pilates teacher training through the Drexel Pilates Training Program under Jennifer Morley. With a focus on biomechanical efficiency, breath, and inspiring confidence she enjoys sharing her love of Pilates with new and experienced practitioners. Outside of the studio, Megan is a dancer in the Philadelphia area, performing with various artists including Archedream for Humankind and Coexistdance. She also serves in administrative roles in the dance community.
